Minteshreen is an active player in both social initiatives and ground movements to provide a legitimate alternative for the repeated failures of the state while keeping the pressure on the ground to defend its positions
Minteshreen took the lead in launching a wide campaign aimed at reducing the voting age to 18 years after a lengthy research effort around the constitution, laws and the mechanism of lowering the voting age. "The Youth are a hard-to-direct force so they prefer to keep us on the sidelines."
Minteshreen played a proactive role in the 2020 union elections, working within and alongside the “Naqaba Tantafed” campaign, taking part of a landslide victory driven by a coalition that brought together over 25 parties and organizations
Minteshreen aims to engage in "Townhalls" across Lebanon with the goal of redefining citizens' relationship with politics and spreading its mission of the nation it aspires for. The Minteshreen Townhalls initiative is done in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
In the immediate aftermath of August 4th, Minteshreen and partners launched Basecamp. Basecamp was conceived as an operations room to map out, organize and execute volunteer-driven relief efforts to move through the relief requirements.
Minteshreen took a proactive role in the 2020 student body elections with allies and partners to form an independent list of candidates that reflect the values and principles of the October 17 revolution to run against the establishment political parties.
In the wake of an economic crisis and the Eurobond payment gridlock, Minteshreen organized a panel discussion with renowned specialists diagnosed & discussed the declining health of the Lebanese Economy at the Beirut “Egg” to better understand how we got here and determine what measures need to be highlighted to mobilize ground action.
Minteshreen played an integral role in supporting environmental groups to stop the Bisri Dam, a project that would have irreversibly damaged the natural ecosystem of Lebanon without a clear-cut benefit in terms of water. Through sit-ins and awareness campaigns, the project was finally halted.
In November 2019, we organized a 24 hour sit-in outside of EDL to shed light on the corruption, in addition to protesting power cuts and their recent increase.
