Minteshreen is an active player in both social initiatives and ground movements to provide a legitimate alternative for the repeated failures of the state while keeping the pressure on the ground to defend its positions
Minteshreen took the lead in launching a wide campaign aimed at reducing the voting age to 18 years after a lengthy research effort around the constitution, laws and the mechanism of lowering the voting age. "The Youth are a hard-to-direct force so they prefer to keep us on the sidelines."
Minteshreen aims to engage in "Townhalls" across Lebanon with the goal of redefining citizens' relationship with politics and spreading its mission of the nation it aspires for. The Minteshreen Townhalls initiative is done in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
In the wake of an economic crisis and the Eurobond payment gridlock, Minteshreen organized a panel discussion with renowned specialists diagnosed & discussed the declining health of the Lebanese Economy at the Beirut “Egg” to better understand how we got here and determine what measures need to be highlighted to mobilize ground action.
Minteshreen played an integral role in supporting environmental groups to stop the Bisri Dam, a project that would have irreversibly damaged the natural ecosystem of Lebanon without a clear-cut benefit in terms of water. Through sit-ins and awareness campaigns, the project was finally halted.
