In November 2019, we organized a 24 hour sit-in outside of EDL to shed light on the corruption, in addition to protesting power cuts and their recent increase. Titled “M3atme'' translated to “It’s Dark”, we organized engaging discussion panels with energy experts and other members of civil society that went on till the early hours of the morning. We then cemented the idea of “M3atme'' by wrapping EDL’s signature yellow fences with black cloth to illustrate the state of the country.
3,000+ people attended the event, 120 of which camped outside EDL to block entrances. The “M3atme” stunt also went viral with unprecedented levels of engagement online and a slot on prime-time news across television channels.
